Michelle Hedgecock, DDS

Hometown: Danbury, Texas

Undergraduate at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas. Majored in Biomedical Science with Minor in Business.

Dental School: University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio

My husband and I drove through Joplin last summer on a road trip, and fell in love with the scenery and the people. I am very excited about the opportunity to work in this area and help those in need. I feel that being a part of such a wonderful organization is a great way to give back to the community.

In my free time, I enjoy working out, reading, listening to live music and traveling.

 Kristi Dobbs, RDH

Kristi first began working in the dental field in 2001 as a dental assistant. She had been assisting for a year when she was accepted to the Missouri Southern State University Dental Hygiene Program.

Kristi graduated from the hygiene program in 2004, and then went to work at a private practice in Kansas for two years. She has now joined the Ozark Tri-County Health Clinic team. She quoted “If I had to give you one reason why public dental care is better than private practice, I would say it is everything. I especially love having time to treat the patients and give them good education and to know they really appreciate what we are doing for them.”

Kristi, along with our other dental hygienists, focuses on helping the community. Not only do they specialize in public health in our clinic by educating our patients on oral hygiene, tobacco counseling, and nutritional counseling, but they also use outreach programs to educate the community on overall health not just oral health.

Kristi lives in Webb City with her husband, Landon, and their two Shar-Pei’s, Faith and Rylee. She enjoys outdoor activities, traveling, crafts, walking the dogs, and spending time with family and friends.

 Laura Garibay, R.D.H., BS

Laura Garibay is a 2007 graduate of the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry Division of Dental Hygiene. She is originally from Lockhart, Texas, but lived in Kansas City for ten years before deciding it was time for a change of pace and scenery for her working career. While in Kansas City, she earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Communications Studies and Spanish at UMKC in 2001, and worked as an orthodontic assistant for three years prior to entering the dental hygiene program.

Laura first decided to work in the SW Missouri region while on a rotation through AHEC during school. She quotes, “The area is breathtaking and the people are all so welcoming.” She felt right at home while visiting and now working at Ozark Tri-County Dental Clinic! She knows that her skills and compassion can assist a wide variety of patient needs in the area. Patient education as well as contributing to the community through various outreach efforts has always been a key priority for her.

She lives in Joplin with her cat, Izzy, and enjoys being outdoors, shopping, cooking, and working out on her spare time.
